My thoughts on Ryan and Taylor. Let me preface this by saying how much I ADORE Taylor Townsend. I have a feeling that if she was a real person, and not a fiction character, she and I would have been good friends, if not best friends. She was kooky, funny, and really nice (at least after she discovered how unfun it was to be a bitch in S3).
I also adored her with Ryan. She had a lot of flaws when it came to dealing with relationships, too. Like I thought it was kinda rude how she stole Frank’s address off of Ryan’s night stand and arranged a meeting with the two. But Ryan took her in stride, and I think she was exactly what he needed. He spent most of his life (that we were able to witness on screen, obviously) saving people, so to have someone like Taylor come in and save him, someone that he didn’t think he could ever love, I thought that was magnificent writing and I loved it. I must admit I hated the idea of Marissa being replaced, and when I started watching the show and had heard that she died (I watched the O.C. after it’s prime), I was concerned. But Taylor and Ryan were good together. And not perfect, which was appropriately accurate for real life. Marissa wasn’t perfect, either, but she had so much drama that it made their relationship so dramatic, overly so.
All of that being said…No, I do not think they would have gotten married and had babies and lived happily ever after. They broke up twice, if you remember. Once when her French ex came in to town, and then again during a time period that we didn’t get to see. I think eventually their differences would have caught up to them and they would have grown apart eventually.
Maybe they would have gotten married, IDK. I just don’t see that happening for them
